Even with proper maintenance and attention to details, things can still go wrong.


We have fine-tuned our troubleshooting to help you solve the issue even faster than getting someone to your site! We have categorized the most common problems with possible causes and corrective actions. If you don’t see your issue below and you still need it resolved, call our office to get specific help from one of our highly qualified service technicians.

Broken belts or Drive Coupling | Non-operating blower(s) turning | Inlet vacuum on a pressure system

  • Check for cause and replace
  • Check valve missing or failed / replace or add
  • In-correct rotation requiring a reverse of motor wiring
  • Confirm operation by: Removing drain plug from discharge silencer to check for air flow or slowly close isolation BFV until PRV opens to confirm blower is operating.
  • Check motor amp draws against other units and O&M
  • Tighten connection or replace gasket

Rust in blower impeller chamber | Motor winding damaged | Improper motor wiring connection

  • Turn off power and proceed to clean impeller chamber
  • Have a qualified electrician inspect motor for damage
  • Have a qualified electrician inspect motor connections

Can we use our own lubrication for the blower?

If you chose not to use the Universal Blower Pac recommended lubricants, you do so at your own risk. Universal Blower Pac will not give approval for any lubricant other than recommended lubricants listed in the O&M Manual. Use oils with rust and oxidation inhibitors, anti-foam additives, and the viscosities listed in the specific blower manual. If not, this could void the manufacturer’s warranty. Do not use oil that contains EP additives, motor oil or detergent oils.

Can the start-up be requested / completed before all our piping is installed?

Universal Blower Pac recommends that all piping be completed and the blower system is tested for performance during final installation.

What is the maximum PSIG?

What is the maximum blower temperature?

Why do we need to grout our blower package?

Grouting serves not only to compensate for surface irregularities between the foundations and machine base, but also to provide a restraint against shifting and to reduce transcendental vibrations generated by the operation of the equipment. Additionally, the grout will not shrink and pull away from the base foot. This ensures that the bolt does not lose tension.

Will the warranty be void if we start-up the blower package before the authorized technician arrives?

By starting the blower package you assume all liability and responsibility for any possible equipment failure due to improper start-up and or installation. Therefore, if any failures result from improper startup without an authorized technician, the warranty will be void.

My blower package is producing too much air. Can I partially close my check valve or butterfly valve?

Never attempt to control air capacity by means of throttle valve, check valve or butterfly valve in the intake or discharge piping. This will increase the power load on the drive system, increase operating temperatures, and could overload and / or seriously damage the blower. Any attempt to control capacity by these means could void all manufactures warranty considerations. Increasing pressure will also decrease airflow.

How often do we change my oil?

Initial break-in lubrication should be changed after the first 500 operating hours. Thereafter, follow the O&M Manual on the specific project. Recommended service intervals are for normal blower operating conditions. Severe operating conditions may warrant more frequent oil changes. Laboratory analysis of lubricant should be used to determine the optimum oil change interval.

How often do we change inlet filter?

Servicing frequency of filter elements is not time predictable. A filter restriction gauge should be installed across the inlet filter. It is also recommended to install a filter restriction switch. This will indicate how much service life of the filter element has been used. In all cases reference the specific filter manufacturers service instructions.  Due to the many types of filters, it is not practical to give specific instructions covering all models and applications. Under normal conditions filters may last 3 to 6 months but could easily need to be replaced as quickly as days in an extremely dirty environment. Filters need to be frequently checked.

Can the owner / contractor lubricate the blower before the start-up technician arrives?

It is preferred that lubrication be added by the contractor / owner with the supervision of the certified technician present. This is to ensure proper lubrication and levels are achieved.
